Canterbury Race 3 – Jal Lei
- Trainer: J O’Shea
- Jockey: T Berry
- Barrier: 5
Jal Lei returns from a spell after 2 consecutive wins last preparation. The Sebring filly impressed me when finishing 2nd in a Rosehill trial earlier in the month. She camped behind the leader and knuckled down strongly late to hold out the classy stakes performed Tiger of Malay. This 6 horse field looks a great race to kick off her campaign.
Tip: 2 Units Win Jal Lei @$1.8 with TopSport
Canterbury Race 7 – Quatenus
- Trainer: J Cummings
- Jockey: K McEvoy
- Barrier: 3
The form guide and market predicts the final race of the evening to be a 2 horse race between Nasturtium and Quatenus. I am willing to take the better odds with the consistent Quatenus who has not finished outside the top 3 in 4 runs this prep. Last start she sat wide and still managed to win a fillies and mares BM 72 at Warwick Farm.
Whilst Nasturtium has been a dominant winner in 2 career starts at the provincials, the form from those races hasn’t stood up. The horses that finished 2nd and 3rd at Gosford last night have struggled to pass a horse in the same grade next start.
Tip: 2 Units Win Quatenus @$2.7 with TopSport
