This Saturday we look at a tricky Randwick meeting where I’ve picked out a value Waller runner, a Matty Dunn stayer who drops in grade and a sprinter who has only missed a placing once in 12 career starts.

Randwick Race 3 –  O’President

Going to to take a chance with this Fastnet Rock colt from the Waller yard at double figure odds. In order to do that I’m putting a line through his first up run in much stronger company when 8th behind Paulele in the G2 Roman Consul.

Looking back at his last prep as a 2yo where he was undefeated. He beat Hilal and Captivant in the G2 Skyline Stakes. Captivant lines up in the Cox Plate later in the day and Hilal in the Bondi Stakes after winning the G2 Stan Fox last start.

I expect Berry to take advantage of gate 1 and be much closer to the speed and hopefully be tough to run down.

Randwick Race 7 – Cepheus

Cepheus gets out to 2400m whilst dropping right back in grade in the Listed Tatts Cup. His last start 3rd in the the Hill Stakes behind Think It Over and Shared Ambition would be more than enough to account for this field. The extra 400m should suit where he can sit just behind the speed and be strong late.

Randwick Race 10 – Belluci Babe

Belluci Babe looks a great bet to round out the day provided the Baker mare fails to gain a start in the Invitation where she is 3rd emergency. She has been a model of consistency throughout her 12 year career,  finishing worse than 3rd once.

She comes right back in grade after being stuck wide with cover and was still strong through the line to finish 3rd in the G3 Nivision over this track and distance. From gate 5 she should be buried away behind the speed and in a great position to produce a strong finish.
