Belmont Tip Sheet, Staking Plan and Horses To Follow – Wednesday 2nd September

We find ourselves on a soft 6 today as anticipated with the amount of rainfall we’ve seen over the last 48 hrs. The rail goes out 13m (data indicates this is usually favouring those on-speed, but good luck predicting the Belmont track pattern at this stage of the season) for what isn’t the worst end of winter season Belmont mid-weeker, but am very much longing for the return to Ascot in just over a months time.

5. Lies N Deception – 7. Neat Action – 1. Allez Allez – 8. The Finest

Very happy to take the favourite on here with a 2 horse play who are both overs on my current market ratings.

Lies N Deception:

Absolutely enormous last start at Pinjarra in a CL1 over 1300m, jumping from the carpark (gate 15) in a big 15 horse field, where he was really made to work early too find the top. They went really fast out in front, running some very quick sectionals mid race and was only grabbed really late in the piece by Looks Like Magic. Gets a senior jock on here, draws a lovely gate in 3 in a race that is devoid of any other speed and should cruise to the front and dictate the tempo on his ear. Is his first go at 1400m, but given the lack of pressure I anticipate out in front, looks like he is going to give them something tough to run down.

1.25 Units WIN

Neat Action:

The other horse I find that is overs in this field is Neat Action. Brings by far the best form into this race and Neville Parnham has a terrific knack for bringing them out of the Saturday races back to the midweeks with success. Last start ran 2nd in Saturday grade when finishing really hard behind Comfort Me, running past Bedouin Belle and Playing Marika, who are handy enough on their day. Draws well in 5 to take up a bit more of a prominent position for Stevie Parnham in a race that lacks any genuine speed and should get a beautiful run in transit 1 or 2 pairs behind the leader and with his nice turn of foot, should be chiming in late back in grade, only being penalised 0.5kgs for his troubles.

0.75 Units WIN

Race 5 – 3:35PM SCHWEPPES HANDICAP (1400m)

11. Safety Bay – 8. Winnies Wine – 1. Amasensus – 2. Crash Hat Lady

Race 6 – 4:15PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1200m)

1. Puli – 4. Lookout – 3. Noble Reflection – 8. Leading Man

Puli:

Looks a beautiful set-up for Puli this race and had him marked under even money so the $2.30 on offer is easily acceptable. Come back a different horse this prep with 2 effortless wins at Pinjarra with his high cruising speed on show before a real tough 2nd behind a progressive horse in Elite Street. Maps to just roll to the top here from the friendly draw and put his lovely rolling speed out in front on display in a field that lacks any real depth to it. Loves a bit of sting out of the ground, which he gets with the rain we’ve had over the last 48 hrs, my only query being the month between runs and the 61.5kgs, but he races well fresh so it shouldn’t pose a major issue.

4 Units WIN

Race 7 – 4:55PM IRON JACK HANDICAP (1650m)

7. Arties Jewels – 3. Apparition – 12. Looks Like Magic – 6. Moderator

Staking Plan

Race 4 Lies N Deception 1.25 Units WIN/Neat Action 0.75 Units WIN
