Belmont Tip Sheet, Staking Plan and Horses To Follow – Wednesday 16th September

Beautiful day for racing with the weather immaculate in the great state this week, track a good 4 with the rail at 16m meaning the cutaway is in play.

  • Our WA Tipping Results Results: +13.05 Units (since 01/07/2020)

Race 1 – 1:14PM FREE ENTRY TO BELMONT PARK MAIDEN (1300m)

3. Notorious One – 6. Holy Enchantment – 1. Spookwood – 4. Perfect Harmony

Notorious One debuts here for the Gangemi yard at the ripe old age of 5 which you don’t see too often these days. His trials have actually been really good and think that trial form should stack up here in what is a relatively weak maiden field. Was worked hard and raced greenly but looks to have a nice turn of foot and nice, long stride length. Should get a good spot in the run from gate 4 and if Turner puts him in the race, looks hard to beat for mine, just a bit short given he has shown signs he’s got a fair bit to learn.

Holy Enchantment is another I also think can win some races but a few queries coming into the 1st up run. Lead-up trial was very quiet (much like most of SJ Miller’s) but the 2nd over 1400m behind Kallaroo at his last run last prep was promising, hit the line strongly from well back. Sitting around my price at the $5.00 quote (marked $5.00 also) and like the 1300m starting block for him.

Race 2 – 1:49PM ASCOT RACING CARNIVAL MAIDEN (1300m)

7. Outback Jack – 8. Miyagi – 3. Fairouge – 6. Fiery Bay

Outback Jack:

Only horse that interests me here is Outback Jack from the SJ Miller yard. Has had 3 trials in the lead-up to the debut here with all of them catching the eye. The 1st of which over the 1100m was most impressive, circling the field under little urgings in a trial time that was as quick as the 3 year old trial over 1100m on the same day, which included Tonkatuff, Boomtastic and Position of Power. The most recent he took out over the 950m in what was easily the fastest trial of the 3yo maidens of the morning. Will get back from the wide gate but expect him to be running on strongly late, looks very smart. Just hesitant to dive in given my gut feel that it will be an advantage to be on-pace tomorrow with the cutaway in play, with a couple of others in the race that have race fitness on their side going to be a fair few lengths in front on straightening, map deters me a tad. One to watch.

Race 3 – 2:24PM SEACORP HANDICAP (1000m)

1. Lording – 4. Express Time – 2. Dune Messiah – 5. Smart Princess

Lording:

Clear best bet on the card for me here in Lording, who brings easily the best form and peak figures into this contest. Last prep ran very well in some high quality 3yo races, winning its maiden 1st up over the 1100m down in Bunbury before consecutive 2nds over the 1000m to River Beau, beating home gallopers in those runs that include Platinum Bullet and Captain Kink, who are very talented gallopers in their own right. Nothing in this field brings form remotely close to that, gets a lovely draw in 1 for Laqdar to find the fence with the claim. Just don’t think these others will be able to go with him and after the tragedy of King Blitz at the trials on Monday, I love a good story and hope Barry Newnham can return to the winners stall with Lording here, one for the good guys. Marked him at $1.80 and the $2.70 that is currently available is well and truly overs for mine.

Race 4 – 2:59PM MUMM CHAMPAGNE HANDICAP (1200m)

3. Excerpt – 2. Triple Missile – 1. No Surrender – 6. Hell’s Belle

Excerpt:

Pretty keen Excerpt at an each way quote here. Went around in a nice little maiden last start when finishing 3rd over this track/distance behind Captain Burglar and Indigo Blue (good thing beaten…) was held up badly from straightening until passing the 200m before really opening up and hitting the line hard, with a space back to 4th. Has always shown ability and looked far more calm and composed around the machines (which he’s had issues with) last start. The start before that didn’t jump with them, lost 2.5L at the start to still finish within 4L of the very handy Madam Torio and only beaten 2L by Starfield Impact. Honestly think he’s crying out for a win and if he carries through his much stronger barrier manners he showed last time here, he’s gonna be very hard to hold out from a lovely gate for Knucks with the cutaway in play.
