Bears acquire defenders Darrell Taylor and Chris Williams in trades

According to  www.nfltraderumors.co, the Chicago Bears have made two interesting trades over the last week. On Friday, the Bears acquired defensive end Darrell Taylor of Hopewell, Virginia from the Seattle Seahawks for a sixth round pick in the 2025 National Football League Draft. Then on Saturday, the Bears acquired defensive tackle Chris Williams of Brooklyn, New York from the Cleveland Browns with a seventh round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft for a sixth round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Bears were one of two NFL teams to make a pair of trades over the last four days. The other was Seattle. On Thursday, the Seahawks traded cornerback Michael Jackson of Birmingham, Alabama to the Carolina Panthers for linebacker Michael Barrett of Valdosta, Georgia.

Taylor has played the last three seasons with the Seahawks. In 2023, he had 28 combined tackles (17 solo tackles and 11 assisted tackles), seven tackles for a loss, eight quarterback hits, one pass deflection and 5.5 sacks. The pass deflection came in a 20-10 Seahawks win over the Arizona Cardinals on October 22, 2023.

Williams has not played since 2022. Last season he signed contracts with the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and Browns, but never played a game. Williams did play two seasons for the Indianapolis Colts in 2021 and 2022, and had six combined tackles (three solo tackles and three assisted tackles) and one quarterback hit in 13 games. The quarterback hit came in a 12-9 Colts win over the Denver Broncos on October 6, 2022.

Jackson is joining his fourth NFL franchise. He was previously with the Detroit Lions in 2019, the New England Patriots in 2020, and the Seahawks from 2021 to 2023. In 17 games this past season, Jackson had 34 combined tackles (28 solo tackles and six assisted tackles), five pass deflections and two tackles for a loss. Barrett was the Panthers’s seventh round pick, 240th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft out of the University of Michigan.
