Ascot Tip Sheet & Staking Plan – Wednesday 23rd December

A midweek that interested me slightly before the forecast. 39-40 degree heat is extremely hot conditions for racing and it’s just one massive unknown how some horses will handle that, hence why I will be staying out on Wednesday. Track will be Good, clearly, and the rail goes out to the 14m which has been in position twice already this season. On the drier track it was heavily on-pace biased while on the wet deck on Cup day it played fairly evenly, expecting it to play as the usual pattern with it to pay to be on-speed early, before evening out later in the day.

Race 1 – 3:15PM AMELIA PARK LODGE HANDICAP (1000m)
5. Red Inferno – 2. Our Danni – 1. Janaura – 4. Noble Scot
Really liked the trial of Red Inferno, which was in relatively fast time to the morning. Looks to have some talent and speed about her and although this race has an abundance of speed engaged, wouldn’t surprise if she’s quite good and is too slick for them at a nice price on debut.

Race 2 – 3:50PM TABTOUCH BETTER YOUR BET MAIDEN (1500m)

7. Tambora – 9. Watto’s Reward – 2. Nick Of Time – 8. Riding Hood Fame

Race 3 – 4:20PM HEINEKEN 3 HANDICAP (1800m)

4. I Am The Sheriff – 6. Reveuse – 5. Sunset Cruise – 10. Uber Mover

Race 4 – 4:55PM QUAYCLEAN HANDICAP (1100m)
8. Jaguar Grey – 7. Excerpt – 6. Domineer – 11. Under The Radar

Race 5 – 5:35PM MORLEY GROWERS MARKET HANDICAP (1000m)

4. Tinto Belle – 1. My Blueboy – 2. Startrade – 8. Rock The Planet

Race 6 – 6:05PM PEOPLESTART HANDICAP (2200m)
2. Ouqba Ted – 4. Bruny Island – 3. Secret Pearl – 1. Bella’s Idol
Think Ouqba Ted and Bruny Island are great chances of knocking off Secret Pearl here. Ouqba Ted comes from a high rating 2200m Saturday grade contest at Ascot from which the form out of has been very handy. Gets in really well at the weights down in grade here with the claim and maps very handy for the best apprentice jockey in the state. Bruny Island’s maiden win was particularly strong and in very good time. Has missed a run since which is a concern but may have (hopefully) been precautionary. 2nd from that maiden blitz over the trip has since broken its maiden at Pinjarra so it looks well and truly solid enough for a race like this. Draws the fence for Nicoll and if his racing manners hold up as they did last time, he’s right in this at double figure odds. Midweek staying events not my forte however.

Race 7 – 6:35PM SEPPELT WINES HANDICAP (1400m)
2. Brutus Maximus – 9. Sentimental Hero – 4. Yulong Earth – 8. Bombardment
