Ascot Selections & Staking Plan: Saturday 13th November

The Masters is fast approaching, headlined by 4 features on a ripping card of racing at Ascot this Saturday. It’s going to be hot, dry, fast and some easterlys in play late in the day which means it won’t be any disadvantage to be close to the speed with the rail in the true. g

Race 1 – 12:28PM ARLEC AUSTRALIA HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

4. Nowhiteflag – 3. No Surrender – 6. Written Matter – 2. Fairy Fast

Race 2 – 1:08PM TABTOUCH – WESTSPEED PLATINUM SERIES HEAT 3 (1400 METRES)

3. Wild Fusion – 4. Beat The Bro – 6. Snippy Miss – 2. Holy Enchantment

Wild Fusion

This runner for Liam O’Loughlin comes here 1st up no trial, but has won 1st up at last 2 preparations. 1st up last prep won a very similar race to this in a performance which rated really well (4L above class benchmark) and maps for a very similar run here. Really hard to knock I think in a field that lacks considerable depth. 2nd in a Fitzpatrick Plate is very good form for this and seems to do his best racing fresh, the $11.00 available is definitely overs.

1 Unit EACH WAY

Race 3 – 1:48PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

7. Triple Missile – 8. Secret Plan – 3. Wilchino – 1. Hot Zed

Triple Missile

Massive L600m to miss behind Wilchino last start who set a frantic tempo and saw it out, almost running a sub 33sec L600 (10L faster than benchmark). Gets the extra 200m here, 1.5kg weight swing in his favour and maps to land on the back of Hot Zed who could gets parked deep and gives him the perfect cart into the race. Can’t see them holding him out barring nothing goes wrong. Wary of Secret Plan finding a race that shapes much better for him, but think he should be winning and can’t wait to see where he goes from here.

3 Units WIN

Race 4 – 2:28PM HEINEKEN 3 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

11. She’s God To You – 9. God Has Chosen – 3. Big Bada Boom – 1. Blinder

She’s God To You

Had the pads on 1st up and gets them off here, huge tick. Drew wide, settled down 2nd last on the fence. Last on turning, rider questioned for vigor in his riding in the straight, was essentially a glorified barrier trial. Gets Parnham, loses O’Donnell and loses 3kgs for his troubles also. Has finished the race off under little riding in the 2nd fastest L600/400/200 splits behind Angelic Miss (same L200m split as Angelic Miss, who was a moral beaten in this grade on Saturday). Pads are off so the feet must be well, new season 4 year old with a heap of talent. The map is the tricky part with plenty of speed on, do they press forward and try find a spot just in behind? If Pike’s last and Parnham has found cover tucked away in behind the speed, GHC is going to have to be seriously good to catch her. Give us a peach C.Parnham.

1.5 Units WIN

God Has Chosen is a proper horse this one, stacks of ability. Last start win signified that. Back last, slowly run race, got going 600m out 4 deep to get around them and pulled their pants down, still running some of the fastest closing splits of the meeting and the fastest of the race. There’s more speed here, so it should be more genuinely run, but he is going to find himself out the back having to round them all up and this is far deeper than what he faced last time around. Price gets out late and I’ll be happy to chop some out.

Race 5 – 3:08PM R.J. PETERS STAKES (1500 METRES)

4. Luke’s Gold – 6. Kissonallforcheeks – 3. Kaptain Kaos – 5. Cockney Crew

Luke’s Gold

Came into race expecting to find him as the value runner. If KK doesn’t get the perfect slip stream on his back in the Northam Cup then he beats him home and he gets a 1.5kg weight swing on that runner here and likely lands 2 pairs in front of him in running. Asian Beau extremely fast run race, 3 back the fence, bolting at top of the straight and there’s no Western Empires or Notorious One’s here. He’s fit, he maps for a perfect run box-seating, he’s just gotta run well. Will have Kissonallforcheeks to his inside and when they met last time he gave that runner, again, the perfect cart into the race, and was only grabbed late. By far the best value in the race.

1 Unit WIN

Kissonallforcheeks just wasn’t suited last start by leading, and not only did she get thrust into leading by default, she set a red-hot tempo and was left ticketless late (5.5L faster than G3 class to the 600, 7.6L faster than all benchmark to the 600m). No wonder she paddled late. She will be much better suited leaders back here with a bunny to chase. Did that last run bust her though? This is D-Day, $2.40 won’t get me. Have to respect, before the Asian Beau (when she was crunched $3.20-$2.05, mad money) she was my top seed for the Railway Stakes.

Kaptain Kaos the form horse coming out of very fast run Northam Cup. Frantic tempo out in front (7L above benchmark), got the perfect cart into the race on the back of Luke’s Gold and thought everything that could’ve gone right from that barrier went right. Was beaten by the favourite 2 starts ago and the favourite now gets a 2.5kg weight swing in his favour and a better run in transit. $3.40 is unders in my opinion.

Race 6 – 3:50PM SEACORP – ASCOT GOLD CUP (1800 METRES)

8. Midnight Blue – 9. Mr Delegator – 2. Taxagano – 13. Temptacion

Midnight Blue

Sick watch 1st up if you were on in that Temptation race. Should have taken plenty out of that run being 1st up in a fast run 1800m contest. Was absolutely bolting. Now meets Temptation 4.5kgs better and loses Ramoly for Pike, that’s a serious turn around, especially with the run under the belt while Temptacion had a proper platform into that last run. Really doesn’t jump all that badly so really hoping Pike can utilise that gate. Clear on-topper for me and at $4.20 poses as the best bet on the card.

3.5 Units WIN

Mr Delegator probably lands in front by default. Over a month between runs? Is going very well and the 1800m is no problem I’m just worried about the gap and what has gone on in between. Smacked Temptation by 3.5L last time they met and now gets a 2kg weight swing in his advantage. No doubt he’s going to be super hard to run down with no pressure, hardest to beat.

Race 7 – 4:25PM EUROZ HARTLEYS – WA CHAMPION FILLIES STAKES (1600 METRES)

4. My Fury – 3. Buzzoom – 2. Searchin Roc’s – 1. Hoi An

My Fury

I thought My Fury paraded superbly and she ran a monsterous race in the main form reference for this. Drew very wide, stepped slowly which is uncharacteristic for her, settled down last and was absolutely bolting once they straightened (held up till passing the 100m) and once she got out she absolutely savaged the line, running all the best sections of the race outside the winner. If she steps better here I have no doubt Whiting will roll forward and try tuck in behind the stablemate with not a lot of speed drawn her inside. She’s already a winner at the mile and think she is far and above the testing material for the favourite. Has just been finding bad luck in her last couple at the wrong times. At $15.00/$3.50 some places, she is comfortably the best each way value on the card.

1 Unit WIN 3 Units PLACE

5. Acromantula – 3. Brooklyn Pier – 8. Leica Jaguar – 10. The Front Bar
