The entire Philadelphia 76ers team went into quarantine on Thursday after Seth Curry tested positive for coronavirus according to Jack Baer of Yahoo! Sports. How Curry’s positive test was handled by the 76ers, the Brooklyn Nets, and the National Basketball Association, could be investigated.

What we know right now is that Curry was on the bench for the 76ers during the game Thursday evening in Brooklyn, a 122-109 win for the Nets. He then left during the first quarter according to Rogers Sportsnet. Curry was then placed in an isolation room for the remainder of the game, and did not leave the Barclays Center with his teammates.

However, things seem a little murky at the moment. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, he initially reported that the 76ers learned of Curry’s positive test before their game started against the Nets. So, why did a) the 76ers allow Curry to be on the bench when there was suspicion he might have the disease, and b) why was the game allowed to finish at all?

Wojnarowski then changed his report saying that the 76ers did not know that Curry had tested positive for coronavirus before the game started and only put him into isolation once they found out. But the thing is the game still went on, putting all of the 76ers and Nets at risk.

Curry had started all eight games for the 76ers at shooting guard prior to Thursday’s loss, and that initial reports why he did not start was because of an ankle injury according to Basketball-Reference. There is a significant chance now that multiple 76ers players might miss time as they await for their coronavirus results in New York, and due to the fact they were in close contact to Curry. One player is 76ers star Joel Embiid, who was sitting next to Curry on the bench during the first quarter.

Seth Curry is the son-in-law of 76ers head coach Doc Rivers. He is also the brother of Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, who made headlines on Sunday, when he scored 62 points in a 137-122 Warriors win over the Portland Trail Blazers.

Philadelphia has got off to a great start in 2020-21. They have a record of seven wins and two losses, and have the best record in the NBA.
