In the 24th of a 32-part series, we are featuring all National Football League teams with a prediction of where each team will finish within their division, key off-season acquisitions and their top fantasy stars. Here are the New York Giants.
Key Off Season Acquisitions
The New York Giants have four new notable players. They are tight end Isaiah Likely of Cambridge, Massachusetts, linebacker Tremaine Edmunds of Danville, Virginia, defensive lineman D.J. Reader of Greensboro, North Carolina and cornerback Greg Newsome of Chicago, Illinois.
It is zero surprise at all that Likely is with the Giants, as he came over to the Big Apple with his previous coach in Baltimore, John Harbaugh. Likely signed a three-year contract worth $40 million on March 12. He played the last four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. In 2025, Likely had 27 catches for 307 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Edmunds signed a three-year contract worth $36 million on March 9. He is joining his third NFL franchise after five seasons with the Buffalo Bills (2018 to 2022), and the last three seasons with the Chicago Bears (2023 to 2025). With the Bills, Edmunds was selected to the Pro Bowl twice (2019 and 2020).
With the Bears this past season, Edmunds had 112 combined tackles (61 solo tackles and 51 assisted tackles), three tackles for a loss, three quarterback hits, four interceptions for 10 yards, nine pass deflections, one fumble recovery and one sack. The sack came in a 26-14 Bears win over the New Orleans Saints on October 19, and the fumble recovery came in a 22-16 Bears win over the Green Bay Packers on December 20.
Reader signed a two-year contract worth $12.5 million on May 5. The Giants are Reader’s fourth National Football League team. He spent four seasons with the Houston Texans from 2016 to 2019, four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals from 2020 to 2023, and the last two seasons with the Detroit Lions. This past season for the Lions, Reader had 28 combined tackles (11 solo tackles and 17 assisted tackles), and four quarterback hits.
Newsome signed a one-year contract worth $8 million on March 10. He is joining his third NFL team after four seasons with the Cleveland Browns and sharing last season with the Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars. In 2025, Newsome had 52 combined tackles (41 solo tackles and 11 assisted tackles), two tackles for a loss, one interception, and nine pass deflections. The interception came in a 36-19 Jaguars win over the Indianapolis Colts on December 7.
Fantasy Stars
The Giants do not have any player ranked inside the top 10 in any fantasy position.
Projected Finish
The Giants are hoping that they will be a better team this year with new head coach John Harbaugh, but in reality they won’t be good enough to get out of the basement of the NFC East. It will take time for the Giants to see stability and consistency from quarterback Jaxson Dart and running back Cameron Skattebo. The foundation for possible future excellence is there, but it will take time for this Giants team to contend. How successful will Harbaugh be in New York? Remember, he missed the playoffs last year in Baltimore with Lamar Jackson at quarterback.
