The second weekend of the NFL postseason is now complete. Here are the top five headlines from the week that was.Â
5) Falcons, Giants and Dolphins name new coaches.
The Atlanta Falcons have named Kevin Stefanski of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania their new head coach (previously fired by the Cleveland Browns), the Miami Dolphins have named Jeff Hafley of Montvale, New Jersey their new head coach, and the New York Giants have named John Harbaugh their new head coach (previously fired by the Baltimore Ravens). Hafley was the defensive coordinator of the Green Bay Packers last season and is reunited with new Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, who was the Packers vice-president of player personnel.
4) Seahawks thump the 49ers.
Seattle is in the NFC Championship after clobbering the San Francisco 49ers 41-6. The Seahawks got off to a great start as Rashid Shaheed returned a 60 yard kickoff for a touchdown and simply never looked back.
3) Rams win wild one in OT.
The Chicago Bears forced overtime on an amazing touchdown pass by Caleb Williams. However, in OT, it was the Rams who were victorious. Harrison Mevis had a game-winning 42 yard field goal after a Kam Curl interception to give the Rams a 20-17 win.
2) Bills fire Sean McDermott
The Buffalo Bills have fired head coach Sean McDermott after the Bills lost to the Denver Broncos 33-30 in overtime on Saturday. A Super Bowl was expected for the Bills this season and McDermott did not deliver.
1) Bo Nix breaks his ankle.
The Broncos beat the Bills even though Broncos quarterback Bo Nix broke his ankle. Jarrett Stidham of Corbn, Kentucky will be the Broncos quarterback in the AFC Championship, against the heavily favoured New England Patriots. New England beat the Houston Texans 28-16 in the other AFC Divisional Playoff game this past weekend.
