2024 Miami Dolphins Projected Finish, Key Signings and Fantasy Stars

In the 20th of a 32-part series, we are featuring all National Football League teams with a prediction of where each team will finish within their division, key off-season acquisitions and their top fantasy stars. Here are the Miami Dolphins.

Key Off Season Acquisitions

The Miami Dolphins signed three key notable free agents in the offseason. They were linebackers Jordyn Brooks, center Aaron Brewer and cornerback Kendall Fuller.

Brooks of Dallas, Texas signed a three-year contract worth $26.25 million. He previously played four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks from 2020 to 2023. He led the NFL with 109 solo tackles in 2021. During the 2023 season, Brooks had 111 combined tackles (62 solo tackles and 49 assisted tackles), eight tackles for a loss, five quarterback hits, one interception for 12 yards and one touchdown, four pass deflections, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery for eight yards, and 4.5 sacks. The fumble recovery came in a 24-3 Seahawks win over the New York Giants on October 2, and the forced fumble came in a 24-20 Seahawks win over the Cleveland Browns on October 29.

Brewer of Dallas, Texas signed a three-year deal worth $21 million. He played the last four seasons with the Tennessee Titans, and had one fumble recovery in 2021 and one solo tackle in 2022.

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Fuller signed a two-year deal worth $15 million. The Dolphins will be Fuller’s third team following two times with Washington (2016 to 2017 and 2020 to 2023), and two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs (2018 and 2019). While with the Chiefs, Fuller won Super Bowl LIV. He had four combined tackles (three solo tackles and one assisted tackle), two pass deflections and one interception as the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 on February 2, 2020. In 2023 with the Commanders, Fuller had 79 combined tackles (55 solo tackles and 24 assisted tackles), two tackles for a loss, two interceptions for 23 yards, nine pass deflections and two fumble recoveries for -1 yards.

Fantasy Stars

In fantasy, wide receiver Tyreek Hill of Pearson, Georgia is ranked first. Considered the best receiver in the game today, Hill led the NFL this past season with 1799 receiving yards, 13 touchdown catches, 112.4 yards per game, and 14.5 yards per touch. He also had 119 catches, the second most in the NFL, only behind CeeDee Lamb, who had 135 catches for the Dallas Cowboys.

At running back, De’Von Achane of Missouri City, Texas is ranked 10th. Achane had 103 rushes for 800 rushing yards, and eight touchdown runs, along with 27 catches for 197 receiving yards and three touchdowns, in his first NFL season.

At defense, the Dolphins are ranked 10th. Where the Dolphins made a significant difference in fantasy was on the defensive line. They were third in the NFL in sacks last season (56), fifth in the NFL in fumble recoveries (12), and fourth in the NFL in touchdowns from fumble recoveries (four).

Projected Finish

The Dolphins won nine of their first 12 games last season, but then only won two of their last six games. Miami’s most notable loss came on New Year’s Eve, when they got their butt kicked in a 56-19 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Until the Dolphins solve their below average play against the better teams in the NFL, expect them not to win the AFC East. I have Miami finishing behind Buffalo and the New York Jets and in third place.
