It feels like an eternity since the Roosters downed Manly 26-12 in round two at the SCG, both sides battling injuries to star players and bouts of inconsistency since then but remaining well and truly in the hunt for September.

The Roosters have won five of their last seven against the Sea Eagles, gaining some early revenge for last year’s semi-final demolition with a 26-12 victory at the SCG in Round 2. The Tricolours have piled on 146 points in their last four visits to Brookvale.

Still the only team to get the better of Penrith in 2022, the Eels will be hoping to replicate that success as they seek to maintain distance between themselves and the logjam of teams on the edge of the top eight.

Parramatta’s upset earlier this season snapped a four-match losing streak in the western derby. The two previous clashes at CommBank Stadium were split one apiece, both decided by 16-10 scorelines.

With wins in three of their past four games the Raiders are finding form at the right time and they head to Cbus Super Stadium full of confidence after a comeback victory over the Warriors.

The Raiders’ Round 3 comeback win at home – clawing back from 22-0 down to snatch a 24-22 victory – was their sixth from their last seven matches against the Titans. It also ended a run of six clashes between the clubs decided by 13+ margins.

A possible move into the top four is at stake for the Rabbitohs in round 20, while the third-placed Sharks will look to build momentum after an impressive performance in an eventual loss to Penrith last Saturday.

Last season’s sole clash in Round 10 saw Souths come away with a 32-22 victory over Cronulla, with Cody Walker scoring two tries from fullback.

Wests Tigers will look to put Sunday’s Townsville heartbreak behind them when they travel to Brisbane to tackle the high-flying Broncos.

The Tigers have won their last three against the Broncos, including a 42-24 result at Suncorp Stadium in last season’s only meeting.

NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS VS CANTERBURY BULLDOGS – SUNDAY, JULY 31, 2:00PM, MCDONALD JONES STADIUM

The Knights and Bulldogs sit on the same number of competition points but find themselves on vastly different trajectories with six rounds remaining.

Newcastle has won three straight against Canterbury, grinding out an ugly 16-6 Magic Round victory in May. Plenty’s changed on the Bulldogs’ side of the fence since then, however, while the Knights look staid and devoid of spark. Another high-scoring win looms for the rejuvenated Doggies.

ST GEORGE-ILLAWARRA DRAGONS VS NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS – SUNDAY, JULY 31, 4:05PM, NESTRATA JUBILEE STADIUM

The Dragons remain in the mix for the eight after a good win over Manly but they face a stern test of their credentials against the Cowboys on Sunday.

The teams met in Townsville last month, with the Cowboys powering to a 31-12 victory. But they are chasing their first win over the Dragons in NSW since 2015 and first at Jubilee Oval since 2003.
