Wyndham Clark of Denver, Colorado has hung on to win the 2026 United States Open. This was Clark’s second major title as he previously won the 2023 United States Open. Three years ago, Clark won at the Los Angeles Country Club. This year, Clark won at Shinnecock Hills in New York state.
Heading into the final round, Clark had a comfortable six stroke lead over his nearest competitors. However, the final result was anything but a blowout.
Clark struggled for most of Sunday, and finished with a score of -4. Sam Burns of Shreveport, Louisiana was only one stroke back at -3. There was only one other golfer in the entire tournament that posted a score of under-par. That was South Korea’s Tom Kim, who was at one-under-par, and three strokes back of Clark.
Clark had five bogeys and two birdies on Sunday. He bogeyed the second, fifth, seventh, 13th and 17th holes, and birdied the 10th and 16th holes.
This was Clark’s second win of 2026. The first came at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in Dallas. When Clark won on the PGA Tour earlier this year, he shot a four round score of -30 and beat Si-Woo Kim of South Korea by three strokes. The total score included a fourth round score of -11. That was 14 strokes better than he shot on Sunday.
In another interesting statistic, Clark has the lowest total score to win a PGA Tour event in 2026, and now the highest score. Clark has now won five times on the PGA Tour. His other two wins came at the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship and the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
