World cannot take John Daly seriously

Golf star John Daly of Carmichael, California might try to be funny at the moment. However, at the end of the day, he is simply not. According to Louise Hall of the Independent on Tuesday, Daly was seen discussing coronavirus on a YouTube video.

Daly was seen holding up a bottle of Belvedere (Polish vodka) and stating the following:

“I kinda got a cure for this. I only drink one drink a day, it just happens to be a bottle of good ol’ Belvedere. You just drink of these a day. You know, sippy sippy on a little McDonald’s Diet Coke. You know, wash it down pretty good. You never have a hangover. And that’s the way you kill this coronavirus, I believe.”

Ok. For one Daly has a history of alcohol abuse. He is not the best person to get advice from on how to live a healthy lifestyle. Now we are finding out that those in charge of Donald Trump’s Twitter Golf account retweeted the tweet and said the following:

“A big thank you to John Daly who has always been one of our greatest fans. John thankyou for your friendship. Everyone at Trump Golf loves you!”

It is one thing for Daly to show a little humour with coronavirus. It is another thing altogether for the President of the United States to find Daly’s comments funny.

Do Daly and Trump need a reminder again that we are in the worst pandemic in our lifetime? There are currently over 2.7 million cases of coronavirus across the world and 190, 000 deaths. In the United States alone there are 878, 779 cases and 49, 751 deaths. This is not a time to joke about this horrendous disease. Furthermore, people actually believe Trump and the American President needs to be significantly more careful with the tweets he agrees with and the retweets that are part of his properties.

The last time Trump gave medical advice, he was recommending people take hydroxychloroquine for coronavirus. We have since found out that “this miracle drug” does not help victims with coronavirus at all. Now by agreeing with Daly to give vodka a try, he seems to be putting light on the pandemic that is shutting down our world and ruined many livelihoods. They both come across like Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko who believes ice hockey, vodka and hot saunas cure coronavirus.

There is no doubt that Trump was trying to be funny by agreeing with Daly. However many across the globe take him seriously and he needs to always be cognizant of that.

Instead of putting a humorous spin on coronavirus, Daly and Trump need to give more educated messages about the dangers of the disease. The two-time major champion (1991 PGA Championship and 1995 British Open) and the most powerful politician in our world today can use their power in society to simply be more educational to our civilization.
