Warwick Farm Best Selection & Value Play 8/1
January 8, 2025
Midweek Sydney racing returns to Warwick Farm this week. Our analyst has found a Joe Pride sprinter that had no luck 1st up at Randwick and a Hickman runner that looks hard to beat on his home track as the Value Play.
Best Selection: R6- Storm The Ramparts
Storm the Ramparts had everything go wrong when heavily backed 1st up over 1000m at Randwick on Boxing Day. He jumped well from gate 4 but the 3 horses drawn inside him all kicked up to form a wall of 4 on-speed after 200m. He was forced to ease back but still found himself 3-wide without cover on the turn.
He loomed up nicely at the 250m before the tough run took its’ toll. The other interesting note I had from the meeting was that a strong northeasterly wind saw horses caught wide on the turn struggle with all winners settling forward of midfield all day. He maps to get a better run from gate 1 provided the rain doesn’t turn the inside off. He otherwise looks a great bet.

Value Selection: R5- Tiger Town
Tiger Town sets up well in this race. He has settled at the rear from wide gates in two Randwick Midway runs this prep. The latest he worked home well to finish 2.3L behind the classy Emmadella. Whilst he will still land somewhere close to the rear, he only has a small field to work down the outside of and he always improves on wet tracks. He was only 2.2L off West of Africa last time he was on a Soft surface.
