Vikings and Cowboys trade cornerbacks

The Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys traded cornerbacks on Friday. According to Nick Shook of nfl.com, the Cowboys traded Nahshon Wright of Hayward, California to the Minnesota Vikings for Andrew Booth Jr. of Dacula, Georgia. The deal comes as both the Vikings and Cowboys are in their preseason schedule.

Wright played the last three seasons with the Cowboys. In 12 games in 2023, he had five combined tackles (three solo tackles and two assisted tackles), and one pass deflection. The pass deflection came in a 49-17 Cowboys romp over the New York Giants. The win over the Giants came during an unbelievable stretch of games by Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

In 32 games since 2021, Wright has 37 combined tackles (27 solo tackles and 10 assisted tackles), one tackle for a loss, one interception, and five pass deflections. The tackle for a loss and interception came in Cowboys wins during the 2022 National Football League regular season. The tackle for a loss came in a 40-34 Cowboys win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Christmas Eve and the interception came on December 29 in a 27-13 Cowboys win over the Tennessee Titans.

Booth Jr. had eight combined tackles (seven solo tackles and one assisted tackle), and one pass deflection in 2023. The assisted tackle came in a 22-17 Vikings upset win over the San Francisco 49ers on October 23, 2023. The game was on national television as it came on Monday night.

In Booth’s career, he has played in 23 games, and has 20 combined tackles (19 solo tackles and one assisted tackle), and one pass deflection. He was used mostly as a reserve player in Minnesota, and expect the same in Dallas.
