Venezuela wins 2026 World Baseball Classic

Venezuela has won the 2026 World Baseball Classic. On Tuesday, Venezuela defeated the United States by a score of 3-2 at LoanDepot Park in Miami, Florida.
Venezuela scored a run in the third, fifth and ninth innings. The only two runs for the United States came in the eighth inning.
There were two home runs in the game. Boston Red Sox right fielder Wilyer Abreu put Venezuela up 2-0 with a solo shot in the fifth inning. Then the Americans tied the game at two when Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper of Las Vegas, Nevada belted a dinger in the eighth inning which also scored Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. of Colleyville, Texas.
However, the game was tied at two for only a short period. That is when Cincinnati Reds third baseman Eugenio Suarez hit the game-winning RBI with a ninth inning double which scored pinch runner Javier Sanoja of the Miami Marlins.
The Venezuelan pitching staff deserved the highest praise. That is because they limited the United States to only three hits.
It was an emotional victory for the country of Venezuela. The baseball team as a whole were extremely patriotic and proud to win the baseball game for their country.
This was Venezuela’s first ever World Baseball Classic title in the country’s history. Interestingly it came in the United States during a time when the political relations between Venezuela and the United States have been complicated over the last two months. At the beginning of January, the United States launched a military strike and bombed northern Venezuela infrastructure to suppress Venezuelan air defenses.
