There was not one, but two National Football League wide receivers traded on Tuesday. The teams that acquired receivers just got even better, although it should be noted that it is difficult to get better than being 7-0, as the New England Patriots are and 6-0, which is the current record for the San Francisco 49ers.

But on Tuesday, the Patriots and 49ers pulled the trigger on separate blockbuster trades. The Patriots acquired wide receiver Mohamed Sanu of Sayreville, New York from the Atlanta Falcons for a second round draft pick in the 2020 National Football League Draft.

Sanu provides a veteran presence for New England to an already talented receiving corps headlined by Josh Gordon, Julian Edelman and Phillip Dorsett. Sanu will replace Antonio Brown on a Patriots squad that has had to overcome minor injuries to their receivers in 2019.

In seven games this season, Sanu only has 33 catches for 313 yards and a touchdown, as the 1-6 Falcons have been targeting Julio Jones, Austin Hooper and Calvin Ridley more. The Falcons are playing for 2020, and anything they got for a fourth receiver is an added bonus.

The 49ers meanwhile acquired Emmanuel Sanders of Bellville, Texas, from the Denver Broncos with a fifth round draft pick in the 2020 National Football League Draft for a third and a fourth round draft pick in 2020. Sanders will be joining his third team as he played four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and six seasons with the Broncos. So far in 2019, Sanders has 30 catches for 367 yards and two touchdowns.

Sanders now becomes the 49ers top wide receiver and will give quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo another viable option as tight end George Kittle has had a solid start to 2019, as he leads the 49ers with 376 receiving yards. San Francisco has been excellent with the running game in 2019 and the addition of Sanders diversifies their offense significantly.
