Country NSW Trial Review: Horses You Must Follow From The Trials Over The Past Week 22/7
July 22, 2020
Our NSW form analyst has taken a look back over the trials of the past week, reviewing the replays and times to come up with 5 horses to follow first up and through their preparation.
Hit’em Hard – Narrandera 19/7/20
Donna Scott trained gelding had his 2nd official trial on Sunday, showed excellent toe to lead, was never really asked down the straight and found the line quite nicely.
Times were not crash hot, but we are unsure how good this horse may be.
When To Bet
I wouldn’t be shocked to see another trial before making his debut, but expect to see the gelding line up in a 1000m maiden in the coming months, speed mapping will be key for his chances. Keen to follow.
Packer’s Bond – Narrandera 19/7/20
Great public debut by the son of Dundeel, he was a little slow away but from the 100m to 500m travelled very nicely. Something you like to see with these young horses is travelling sweetly without being asked to.
Once in the straight J Mallyon gave him a little squeeze, Through the line nicely to finish 3rd in the trial
When To Bet
Another one that we may see in one more trial before debut, but a 1000m-1200m maiden at Wagga or Albury would suit best. Nice type in the making.

Hot ‘N’ Hazy – Goulburn 20/7/20
Wasn’t hard to spot this one from the Danny Williams stable, running a blistering 46.3 for the 800m and 33.3 for last 600m. The horse has only had the one start, where he won a 1000m maiden easily at Wagga.
Danny is not a silly trainer, he will place this colt perfectly to strike first up again.
When To Bet
Looking for a 1000m Class 1 somewhere around Goulburn, Wagga, Albury to kick off the preparation.
Price may be the issue, I’m sure the bookies will be keeping this one safe.
El Magnificence – Goulburn 20/7/20
Ex Victorian trained horse finds itself in the Robert and Luke Price stable, he travelled really nice throughout, wasn’t pushed at all.
The second heat was ran 1.8 seconds slower then heat one, but for me, it’s all about how the horse does it.
When To Bet
I’d say he will line up in a Bm64 or Class 2 somewhere. With only 2 wins from 20 starts and both wins coming first up in multiple preparations, I expect this bloke to fire first up. Keen to play

Leg Work – Goulburn 20/7/20
Another Danny Williams trained gelding, very quiet early in his trial, with a late squeeze from jockey Shaun Guymer to find the line nicely. He is a sit and sprint style, so seeing him fly late and through the line is perfect.
Last preparation, he raced fairly keen early doors but was way too talented.
When To Bet
Class is a slight issue, as is record is 3 wins from 8 starts, but expect him to be super competitive first up. Possibly even in a highway in Sydney.
