Toronto Raptors Predicted Finish, Key Acquisitions & Fantasy Stars
October 14, 2022
In the 24th of 30 NBA previews prior to the start of the season, we will take a look at the Toronto Raptors. In this preview, we will discuss Toronto’s key acquisitions, fantasy stars and predicted finish.
Key Acquisition
The most significant acquisition for the Raptors in the offseason was forward Otto Porter Jr. of St. Louis, Missouri. The Raptors will be the fourth team he has played for following the Washington Wizards, Chicago Bulls and Orlando Magic.
Porter Jr. signed a two-year deal worth $12.4 million with the Raptors on July 6. Last season he won the NBA Finals with Golden State. During the 2021-22 regular season, Porter Jr. averaged 8.2 points per game, 5.7 rebounds per game, 1.5 assists per game, and had a field goal percentage of .464, three-point percentage of .370, and free throw percentage of .803.

Fantasy Star
The Raptors fantasy star is Pascal Siakam, who is ranked eighth among centers. The native of Douala, Cameroon averaged 22.8 points per game, 8.5 rebounds per game, and 5.3 assists per game. Siakam also had a field goal percentage of .494, three-point percentage of .344, and a free throw percentage of .749. A workhorse, Siakam led the entire NBA in minutes played per game at 37.9. He had career highs in rebounds and assists, which has made him a fantasy asset in 2022-23.

Predicted Finish
Joel Beatton and I agree that the Raptors will finish in fourth place in the Atlantic Division. They just lack the star power that the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets contain. However we both have the Raptors qualifying for the play-in tournament, as I have them in eighth in the East, while Joel has them ninth.
