Top five storylines from Week 13 of 2020 National Football League regular season
December 10, 2020

We are nearing the end of the 2020 National Football League regular season, but for fantasy owners, the end of Week 13 is the end of the regular season in most fantasy football pools. Congratulations to those who made the playoffs! Here are the five top storylines from the week.
5) Patriots deliver with a dominant win over Chargers. The New England Patriots reached the .500 mark with a 45-0 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. In the process, Bill Belichick won his record-tying fourth career NFL game as a head coach by 45 points or more. He is tied with former Dallas Cowboys head coach Tom Landry.
4) Jets fire defensive co-ordinator Gregg Williams. After the New York Jets lost 31-28 to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, on a Hail Mary touchdown pass of 46 yards from Derek Carr to Henry Ruggs III with five seconds left, it was Jets defensive co-ordinator Gregg Williams who was held responsible. Williams was fired when Ruggs III easily got by the entire Jets secondary on his way to the end zone. With the loss, the Jets fell to a record of zero wins, and 12 losses.
3) Cole Beasley sets a fascinating NFL record. On Monday night in the Buffalo Bills’ 34-24 win over the San Francisco 49ers, Bills wide receiver Cole Beasley had nine catches for 130 yards and one touchdown. In the process, he set the NFL record for the most touchdown catches all-time for a wide receiver at 5’8″ or shorter. Beasley now has 33 career touchdown catches, and breaks the record previously held by Darren Sproles, who had 32 career touchdown catches.
2) Cleveland Browns have an amazing first half. In the first half on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland dominated play and outscored the Titans 38-7. Their 38 points set a franchise record for the most points scored in the first half. Remarkably, the Browns almost blew it, as they hung on to win 41-35. What is remarkable about the Browns’ 9-3 record is that they are a -15 when it comes to points for and against.
1) Best in the NFC East may not be so bad after all. The two biggest upsets of the week came by teams from the NFC East. On Sunday, the New York Giants won in Seattle by a score of 17-12, despite being 10.5 point underdogs. Giants quarterback Colt McCoy only needed 105 yards to beat the Seahawks squad. Then on Monday afternoon, the Washington Football Team stunned the Pittsburgh Steelers 23-17, despite being 6.5 point underdogs. Washington, which entered the game with a record of four wins and seven losses, had the lowest winning percentage (.364) in NFL history for a team that had beaten their 11-0 opponent.
