Top five rookies from Week 2 of 2021 NFL season
September 22, 2021
It was an intriguing weekend in the National Football League. Here are five rookies who were able to shine on winning teams.
5) Mac Jones–New England Patriots–
The former star of the Alabama Crimson Tide recorded his first National Football League career win on Sunday. Jones was not sensational, but did not need to be. He completed 22 of 30 passes for 186 yards in a 25-6 Patriots win over the New York Jets. Jones clearly outplayed Jets rookie quarterback Zach Wilson, who was terrible, as he threw four interceptions.
4) Jauan Jennings–San Francisco 49ers–
The 49ers’ seventh-round draft pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, caught his first career touchdown pass on Sunday in San Francisco’s 17-11 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Jennings received an 11-yard pass from Jimmy Garoppolo with 12 seconds left before halftime to put the 49ers up 7-3. The wide receiver out of Tennessee finished the game with two catches for 17 yards.
3) Ty’Son Williams–Baltimore Ravens–
After a respectable NFL debut where he had nine rushes for 65 yards and a touchdown in a 33-27 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, Williams had 13 rushes for 77 yards, and two catches for 16 yards in a 36-35 Baltimore win over the Kansas City Chiefs in an exciting Sunday nighter.

2) Demetric Felton–Cleveland Browns–
Even though the Cleveland Browns rookie is listed as a running back, it is as a receiver where Felton did his damage on Sunday. He caught two passes for 51 yards and recorded one touchdown in a 31-21 Browns win over the Houston Texans. Felton’s first career touchdown was for 33 yards from Baker Mayfield, and put Cleveland up 21-14 at the time.
1)Rondale Moore–Arizona Cardinals–
There is no doubt that Cardinals’ rookie wide receiver Rondale Moore is quickly becoming a favourite receiving option for Kyler Murray. On Sunday, Moore, Arizona’s second-round draft pick out of Purdue, was Arizona’s top receiver despite a fumble. He had seven catches for 114 yards and one touchdown in a 34-33 Cardinals win over the Minnesota Vikings.
