Top five rookies from Week 12 of 2024 NFL season

The National Football League is 12 weeks complete. Here are the top five rookies from week 12 on winning teams. This year we are including kickers and this week three kickers made the top five.

5) Jake Bates

The Detroit Lions rookie kicker from Tomball, Texas made a field goal from 56 yards and had three converts in a 24-6 Lions win over the Indianapolis Colts. With the win, the Lions improved to a record of 10 wins and one loss, and have the best record in the National Football Conference. In fact, they are tied with the Kansas City Chiefs for the best record in the NFL.

4) John Parker Romo

The Minnesota Vikings rookie kicker from Peachtree City, Georgia was number one on our list from Week 10. On Sunday, Romo kicked the game-winning 29 yard field goal with two minutes and 10 seconds left in overtime as the Minnesota Vikings beat the Chicago Bears 30-27. Romo, who is 27 years of age, also had second half field goals from 26 and 40 yards. With the win, the Vikings improved to a record of nine wins and two losses.

3) Spencer Shrader

Kansas City was in need of a kicker when Harrison Butker went on injury reserve with a knee injury. The Chiefs new kicker is Spencer Shrader of Lithia, Florida. On Sunday, just like Romo, Shrader made the game-winning field goal. This one came from 31 yards in a 30-27 Chiefs win over the Carolina Panthers. Shrader also made field goals from 25 yards and 41 yards in the first half, and three converts.

2) Bucky Irving

The Buccaneers rookie running back from Chicago, Illinois had 12 rushes for 87 rushing yards and one touchdown, and six catches for 64 receiving yards in a 30-7 Buccaneers win over the New York Giants. Irving, a product of the University of Oregon, scored his touchdown on a six yard run with six minutes and 23 seconds left in the second quarter, and put the Buccaneers up 17-0 at the time.

1) Bo Nix

The Denver Broncos continue to roll. On Sunday they improved to a record of seven wins and five losses following a 29-19 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix of Arkadelphia, Arkansas was once again exceptional. He completed 25 of 42 passes for 273 passing yards and two touchdowns, and one rush for five rushing yards. Nix’s touchdown passes were for 18 and two yards to wide receiver Courtland Sutton of Brenham, Texas.
