Top five pairings at 2021 Masters

The Masters is set to begin on Thursday. Let us take a look at the top five pairings before the most spectacular event of the golf season is set to commence.

5) Justin Rose/Matt Kuchar/Shane Lowry–This group has two major champions (England’s Justin Rose who won the 2013 U.S. Open, and Ireland’s Shane Lowry, who won the 2019 British Open), alongside the red-hot American Matt Kuchar, who finished third at the World Golf Matchplay Championship last month behind fellow Americans Billy Horschel and Scottie Scheffler.

4) Justin Thomas/Tony Finau/Louis Oosthuizen–This trio also has two major champions. Thomas won the 2017 PGA Championship, and Oosthuizen of South Africa, won the British Open in 2010. Meanwhile, Finau who is ranked 13th in the world, has eight top-10 finishes at majors since 2015.

3) Paul Casey/Daniel Berger/Patrick Reed–This appealing group has the American Reed, the 2018 Masters champion, alongside Paul Casey of England (who has reached the top 10 in all four majors), and American Daniel Berger, who won the nostalgic event in Pebble Beach this past February. All three players are ranked in the top 20 in the world. Reed is seventh, Berger is 15th, and Casey is 18th.

2) Bubba Watson/Brooks Koepka/Viktor Hovland–The focus on this group will be the health of Koepka, who has been battling recent knee problems and was questionable to compete. However, the four-time major champ is competing despite the fact he is concerned about the pain of walking 18 holes of golf. Watson, has won the Masters twice before in 2012 and 2014. While, Hovland is the new kid on the block, and is the Norwegian sensation ranked 14th in the world.

1) Jon Rahm/Rory McIlroy/Xander Schauffele–This group has unbelievable appeal. Rahm is competing, despite being a father for only six days. McIlroy is a four-time major champion, but still looking for his first Masters title. Meanwhile Schauffele is sixth in the world. Despite the fact Rahm and Schauffele are both in the top six (Rahm is third), neither have won a major as of yet.
