There is no doubt that defense can win fantasy championships. A dominant performance by your defense can swing head-to-head matches in any given week. Let’s take a look at the top five fantasy defenses in 2020.

5) New England Patriots–The Patriots defense was the best fantasy defense in 2019 by far, as they had 329 fantasy points, 79 more fantasy points than their nearest competitor, the Pittsburgh Steelers, which had 250 fantasy points. However, the fact that the Patriots will have a completely different offense this year, one would expect New England to spend more time on the football field on defense as they adjust to the change in personnel.

3) Pittsburgh Steelers–Despite giving up 303 points in 2019, the Steelers defense should improve in 2020, with Ben Roethlisberger back as Pittsburgh’s quarterback. This will make the Steelers offense instantly better, and keep the defense off the field more. in 2020, the Steelers were second in the NFL interceptions with 20. Only the Patriots with 25, had more. The Steelers also led the NFL with 18 fumble recoveries and 54 sacks.

2) Baltimore Ravens–With three outstanding cornerbacks on their roster in Marlon Humphrey, Jimmy Smith, and Marcus Peters, alongside the additions of Calais Campbell and Derek Wolfe to their defensive line, the Ravens have the potential to return to their glory years when they were known as having the stingiest defense in the entire NFL. Time will tell if any of the aforementioned players will follow in the footsteps of Ravens legends Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs.
