Top five headlines from Week 7 of 2024 NFL season

The seventh week of the 2024 National Football League regular season is now finished. Here are the top five headlines.

5) Successfully picked five upsets.

I hope you read my NFL Weekly Preview from last week, because I would have made you some money. I successfully picked five underdogs to win in Week 7. They were the Denver Broncos (originally an underdog before the spread changed), the Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Detroit Lions. The only underdog that won that I did not predict were the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night.

4) Chiefs remain perfect.

Kansas City went into San Francisco in a Super Bowl rematch and remained unbeaten. The Chiefs had four rushing touchdowns in a 28-18 win. Kansas City is the only team undefeated as they are a sensational 6-0. ‘

3) Lions win a battle of elite NFC teams.

First place was on the line in the NFC North. In a battle of division foes, the 4-1 Detroit Lions defeated the 5-0 Minnesota Vikings 31-29 on a game-winning field goal by Lions rookie kicker Jake Bates of Tomball, Texas. With the win, the Lions and Vikings are now tied for the division lead at five wins and one loss, but the Lions get first spot because of their head-to-head record.  The next time Detroit plays Minnesota is January 5.

2) Russell Wilson shines in Steelers debut.

There was a lot of intrigue on Sunday night in Pittsburgh as Russell Wilson was facing Aaron Rodgers. It was Wilson that came out on top. In his Steelers debut, Wilson had 264 yards passing, and contributed to three Steelers touchdowns (two in the air and one on the ground) in a 37-15 win over the New York Jets.

1) Parker Washington makes Jaguars history.

In the Jaguars’s 32-16 win over New England, history was made, and it just so happened to be in Old England (London’s Wembley Stadium). Parker Washington had a 96 yard punt return for a touchdown, the longest punt return touchdown in Jaguars’s history, in the 16 point triumph.
