Top five achievements of Dwyane Wade’s career with the Miami Heat
January 9, 2020

On Tuesday, the Miami Heat announced that they would retire jersey number three of Dwyane Wade of Chicago, Illinois when Miami hosted the Cleveland Cavaliers on February 22. An outstanding shooting guard, Wade played 15 seasons for the Heat from 2004 to 2016 and again from 2018 to 2019. During his NBA career, Wade also spent one full season with the Chicago Bulls and half a season with the Cavaliers. Now let us take a look at the five best achievements Wade accomplished with the Miami Heat.
5) Wade was on the All-NBA first team twice. In 2009 and 2010, Wade was on the All NBA’s first team. He was one of four players chosen in each of those two seasons, as he was joined by Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard and LeBron James.
4) Wade led 2008-09 NBA season in scoring. In his sixth season in the NBA, Wade led the NBA with 30.2 points per game. He had 1.8 more points per game than James of the Cleveland Cavaliers who was second on the list with 28.4 points per game. That season, Wade also led the NBA in points scored (2386), field goals (854) and two point field goals (766). He also became the first and only player in NBA history to record 2000 points, 500 assists (589), 100 steals (173) and 100 blocks (106) in the same season.
3) Wade was a 13-time NBA All-Star with the Heat. A total of 13 times Wade represented the Heat at the NBA All-Star Game. He played in 12 straight All-Star Games from 2005 to 2016 and again in 2019. In 2010, Wade was the NBA All-Star Game’s most valuable player. He had a double double (28 points and 11 assists) as the Eastern Conference beat the Western Conference 141-139 in front of 108, 713 spectators at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
2) Wade is the all-time Heat leader in many offensive categories. One could argue that Wade was the best Heat player ever. He is the Heat’s all-time leading scorer in points (21 556), assists (5310) and steals (1492).
1)Led the Heat to three championships. Wade was part of the Heat organization for all three of their wins in the NBA Finals (2006, 2012, 2013). In 2006, Wade was the NBA Finals’ MVP, as he teamed up with Shaquille O’Neal to beat the Dallas Mavericks four games to two. In 2012, Wade teamed up with James to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder four games to one, and then in 2013, teamed up with James again to beat the San Antonio Spurs four games to three.
