The third round of Wimbledon is set to start on Friday. Here are the top 10 matches set to take place.
(1) Aryna Sabalenka–Belarus vs. Jelena Ostapenko–Latvia
This match features two grand slam champions. Sabalenka is the 2023 and 2024 Australian Open champion, and the 2024 and 2025 United States Open champion. Ostapenko won the 2017 French Open. Sabalenka has won three of the four meetings head-to-head. Ostapenko won the last meeting, 6-4, 6-1 in the final of Stuttgart in 2025.
(2) Elena Rybakina–Kazakhstan vs. Elise Mertens–Belgium
Rybakina won Wimbledon in 2022 and the Australian Open in 2026. Mertens reached the semifinals of the Australian Open in 2018. Rybakina has won seven of eight meetings all-time including a fourth round win at the 2026 Australian Open, 6-1, 6-3.
(6) Amanda Anisimova–United States vs. (26) Madison Keys–United States
Anisimova reached the final of Wimbledon and the United States Open in 2025. Keys won the 2025 Australian Open. Anisimova won their one prior meeting, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the round robin of the 2025 WTA Finals in Riyadh.
(9) Flavio Cobolli–Italy vs. (19) Karen Khachanov–Russia
Cobolli reached the finals of the 2026 French Open and Khachanov reached the semifinals of the 2022 United States Open and 2023 Australian Open. Khachanov won the only prior meeting, 7-5, 6-4 in the third round of Madrid in 2024.
(10) Alexander Bublik–Kazakhstan vs. (17) Frances Tiafoe–United States
Bublik, who reached the fourth round of the last United States Open and Australian Open, will face Tiafoe, who made the semifinals of the United States Open in 2022 and 2024. Bublik and Tiafoe have won two matches each head-to-head.
(12) Marta Kostyuk–Ukraine vs. (23) Emma Navarro–United States
Kostyuk, the 2026 French Open semifinalist, faces Navarro, the 2024 United States Open semifinalist. Navarro has won all four meetings head-to-head.
(13) Jasmine Paolini–Italy vs. Maria Sakkari–Greece
Paolini reached the final of Wimbledon and the French Open in 2024. Sakkari reached the semifinals of the French Open and United States Open in 2021. Sakkari has won three of five meetings head-to-head including a 6-4, 6-2 win in the second round of Doha in 2026.
(14) Naomi Osaka–Japan vs. Daria Kasatkina–Australia
Osaka, the four time grand slam champion (2018 and 2020 United States Open, and 2019 and 2021 Australian Open) is facing Daria Kasatkina of Australia, the 2022 French Open semifinalist. Osaka has won all three meetings, including 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 in the third round of the 2025 United States Open.
(21) Tommy Paul–United States vs. Hubert Hurkacz–Poland
Paul, the 2023 Australian Open semifinalist, is facing Hurkacz, the 2021 Wimbledon semifinalist. Paul has won the last three meetings head-to-head and three of four meetings overall.
Matteo Berrettini–Italy vs. Grigor Dimitrov–Bulgaria
Berrettini reached the final of Wimbledon in 2021. Dimitrov reached the semifinals of Wimbledon in 2014, the Australian Open in 2017, and the United States Open in 2019. Dimitrov and Berretini have beaten each other once. Dimitrov won 7-5, 6-4 in the first round of Monte Carlo in 2019. Berrettini won 7-6, 7-6 in the second round of Vienna in 2019.
