According to Bryan DeArdo of CBS Sports on Thursday, the Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans have traded linebackers. The Titans have traded Ernest Jones IV of Waycross, Georgia to the Seahawks for Jerome Baker of Cleveland, Ohio and a fourth round pick in the 2025 National Football League Draft.
Jones IV (pictured as a member of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks) is joining his third NFL franchise. He previously played three seasons with the Los Angeles Rams from 2021 to 2023, and six games with the Titans in 2024. This season, Jones IV has 44 combined tackles (29 solo tackles and 15 assisted tackles), three tackles for a loss, one quarterback hit and two pass deflections.
Baker is joining his third NFL franchise too. He previously played six seasons with the Miami Dolphins from 2018 to 2023, and one season with the Seahawks in 2024. This season in Seattle, Baker has 37 combined tackles (21 solo tackles and 16 assisted tackles), two tackles for a loss, one quarterback hit, one sack, two pass deflections, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. The fumble recovery came in a 26-20 Seahawks win over the Denver Broncos on September 8.
Jones IV is the second defensive player to be traded to the Seahawks this month. The other was Roy Robertson-Harris of Oakland, California, who was traded from the Jacksonville Jaguars to the Seahawks for a sixth round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on October 14.
The Seahawks are leading the NFC West with a record of four wins and three losses. The fact that the Seahawks are leading the division is a gigantic surprise. The San Francisco 49ers were the favourites but have experienced an immense number of injuries this season.
