According to Jared Dubin of CBS Sports on Monday, the Tennessee Titans are expected to sign wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins of Central, South Carolina to a two-year contract worth $26 million. The Titans are to be the third National Football League franchise Hopkins has played for. He previously played seven seasons with the Houston Texans from 2013 to 2019, and the last three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals from 2020 to 2022.
The Titans will be receiving a four-time Pro Bowler. Hopkins was honoured while with the Texans in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019. In 2017, he led the NFL with 13 touchdown catches.
In 2022, Hopkins had 64 catches for 717 yards and three touchdowns. He did not start the season with Arizona as he was suspended six games for violating the NFL’s drug policy. It was the second straight season Hopkins did not play a complete schedule in Arizona. In 2022, he had a hamstring issue and tore his medial collateral ligament.
The Cardinals released Hopkins on May 26, 2023. The release comes after a bitterly disappointing 2022 NFL season as Arizona had the third worst record in the National Football League at four wins and 13 losses. Only the Houston Texans at three wins, 13 losses and one tie, along with the Chicago Bears at three wins and 14 losses were worse.
For his career. Hopkins has 853 catches for 11298 receiving yards and 71 touchdown catches. It should be noted that even though Hopkins only played nine games last season, he still had more receiving yards than anyone on the Titans a year ago. Robert Woods of Gardena, California led the Titans with 527 receiving yards. He has since signed with the Texans.
