Tiger Woods to miss the 2026 Masters

According to Anna Lazarus Caplan of People Magazine on Wednesday, Tiger Woods of Cypress, California will miss the 2026 Masters. Woods was recently in a car accident in Florida. From the accident which happened on Friday, Woods was allegedly arrested for driving under the influence, and has made the personal decision to get treatment.

On Tuesday, details about the accident took place. According to Mark Schlabach of ESPN, Woods was looking down at his cell phone and changing the channel in his car radio. He then did not see the truck in front of him slow down.

This is not the first time Woods was been in a high profile vehicle accident.  In 2009, Woods crashed into a fire hydrant and tree outside his Orlando home. This was around the time when Woods was accused of (and later admitted to) frequent cases of infidelity. In 2017, Woods was found asleep in his vehicle, and in 2021, Woods broke his leg from a serious vehicle accident in Los Angeles.

Earlier last week, Woods represented Team Jupiter Links at the 2026 Golf League in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. However, Woods’s team lost 9-2 to Los Angeles. One of the key shots in the match was a missed three foot putt by Woods on the seventh hole. Los Angeles went on to win the best of three series two matches to none for their first championship title in The Golf League. Atlanta won in 2025.

The Golf League event was the first time Woods participated in a competitive golf event since the 2024 British Open. There he missed the cut after shooting a +14.
