The PGA Tour returns to the United States tomorrow after spending the last two weeks in Great Britain. The 3M Open will be in Minnesota despite the fact there have been 70,816 burnt acres of forest fires in the state. Here are the top three golfers we like to contend this week in Blaine.
Scottie Scheffler
The 3M Open got a boost this year as world number one Scottie Scheffler of Ridgewood, New Jersey is competing at the TPC Twin Cities in Blaine for the very first time. It is interesting that Scheffler is competing in Minnesota after being at the British Open just last week. The reason for Scheffler’s appearance is because he did not want to take time off with the FedEx Cup Playoffs around the corner. Still, the focus will be on Scheffler this week and will be the player to beat. With Scheffler making an appearance, the tournament organizers brought in some state star power. On Wednesday, Scheffler played a pro-am with Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell.
Kurt Kitayama
The defending champion from Chico, California posted a winning score of -23 for his second PGA Tour title after winning the 2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational. Where Kitayama was excellent last year was in his approach shots. That is something golf fans should keep an eye on starting tomorrow.
Hideki Matsuyama
The 2021 Masters champion from Matsuyama, Japan is still looking for his first win of 2026. The world number 30 has not missed a cut all year and has eight top 20 finishes.
