The Plunge’s Trial Review: Horses Must Follow From Last Week’s Trials 17/2
February 17, 2021
The quality is really starting to pick up at the trials as the feature races continue in Sydney. I’ve run my eye over Rosehill and Randwick trials from the past week and found two quality gallopers that will be tough to beat in their next starts.

Lost and Running
Lost and Running is an emerging 4yo gelding from the O’Shea yard that was 2 from 2 in his only race prep, winning by big margins at Scone and Kensington. He looks to have come back nicely from a spell jumping straight to the front and controlling his trial. He angled wide on the turn and had the field stacked behind him before exploding away at to 200m and put 3.8L on multiple stakes race winner California Zimbol.
When To Bet
Lost and Running looks ready to step up to stakes racing over the autumn carnival. He only has a BM rating of 69, which means the options are stacked for John O’Shea when he returns in what has to be Saturday grade company.
Remarque
Remarque stamped himself as a genuine Slipper contender when he won on debut at Rosehill in erratic fashion a month ago. He’s since been freshened and nobody missed his trial at Rosehill last week.
Tommy Berry settled him at the rear and stoked him up at the 400m where he glided past the majority of his rivals with ease. Magic Millions winner Shaquero held on to win by the barest of margins and admittedly wasn’t pushed out as hard as Remarque after leading but it would be hard not to see Remarque coming right over the top of him in race conditions.
When To Bet
Remarque is 3rd favourite at $10 in Slipper markets only behind Enthaar and the other 2yo I have my eye on in Profiteer. He will likely have one more run in preparation before the Slipper in either the Skyline or Todman Stakes.
