The Plunge’s Saturday Review: Horses You Must Follow From Randwick 4/9
September 6, 2021

Saturday saw a huge day of feature racing at Sydney’s headquarters. Dominant victories to sprinting and middle distance stars Nature Strip and Zaaki confirmed that they will be horses to follow throughout the major races this spring.
The Plunge’s Service Results:
- +10.5 units of profit since December
- 80 bets: 19 wins /25 placings
Shaik – Randwick
- Race 2
- Distance: 1100m
- Class: BM 78 Mares
Shaik was ultra impressive charging home from last in a race that saw Selburose get away with some cheap sectionals up front and hold on for an all the way victory. Shaik’s final 400m sectional of 22.12 matched that of Concorde Stakes (1000m) runner-up Wild Ruler which is unbelievable.
When To Bet
It would be great to see the Hawkes team find another benchmark race over slightly further. They may be tempted to step this mare up to some black type racing.
Mallory – Randwick
- Race 6
- Distance: 1200m
- Class: Group 2 3yo fillies
Mallory is a top class 3yo filly that is due some luck and crying out for 1400-1600m which she will find in the later races in this princess series. She travelled worse than midfield, 3 wide and without cover but was still good enough to charge home to claim 3rd place in the Furious Stake over 1200m.
When To Bet
Jamaea was dominant coming from last to claim the victory but with her connections signally their intent to head to the Golden Rose to take on the colts, Mallory is the horse I want to follow into the Tea Rose Stakes from this race. The 1400m looks ideal.
