The Plunge’s Black Book: Horses Running At Rosehill 25/9
September 24, 2021

Rosehill Gardens is back for one of its’ biggest days of the year, the Golden Rose for what looks to be a tricky but exciting day of racing. A 3yo that looks to have come back as a physical brute, a European import from the Lees yard and a big name looking to make it 3 wins in a row are my black book runners for the day.

Rosehill Race 5 – Home Affairs
Home Affairs was a horse that I followed closely as a 2yo and I have been very impressed with what I have seen in 3 return trial wins. He looks to have matured into an absolute beast and may be one that can improve sharply on what he produced as a 2yo where he won the Silver Slipper.
Chris Waller rarely has his horses forward enough to win 3 trials and I was buoyed when I heard the stable even throw the E word out there when discussing possibilities for the future.

Rosehill Race 8 – Anamoe
Anamoe had everything stacked against him 1st up when he met the Run to the Rose field 1st up after an elevated temperature delayed the start to his preparation. He was a huge drifter after James Cummings seemed bearish in interviews, declaring punters should expect sharp improvement. He was still good enough to win that day and he meets a very similar field here, most of them better at the weights.
From a tricky gate, J Mac would love to be just worse than midfield, 3 wide with cover which would put him in a fantastic position to produce the outstanding colt down the outside.
Jamaea steps up to take on the colts. Any punters that want to go big on Anamoe and have a bonus bet handy may want to hedge on her because it is hard to see any of the colts being good enough.

Rosehill Race 8 – Grande Rumore
I was on this mare at $25 1st up over 1200m and I am keen to stick here. On that occasion, the European import got back and was strong through the line when 5th which makes the step up to 1400m here look great. What pleases me most is that she drops right down to the minimum of 52kg which we all know can send horses air born. I also like getting behind imports in there 2nd Australian preparation after showing something in their first. Great value.
