The Forgive, Forget and Follow Files 27/2

After the weekend of Group 1 racing we assess the horses you need to forgive, forget and to follow heading into a huge Autumn carnival.

Forgive

Jet Propulsion – Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace

7th of 15 in the 1600 metre Group 1 Australian Guineas

The well bred colt has had a little bit of hype around him and looked a chance in the Australian Guineas although starting a $31 shot. The run was a total forgive after having to all the work from the gate before being posted three wide the trip. The Maher & Eustace trained colt pushed on and stuck on bravely in 7th. He looks a future staying type but for now he heads to Sydney and he can definitely win a nice race during the Autumn carnival.

Greysful Glamour  – Mark Newnham

11th of 15 in the 1400 metre Frances Tressady Stakes

On face value the mare ran poorly considering her lofty targets this prep including the All-Star Mile in a couple of weeks. However, there was a notable excuse in the stewards report “post-race endoscopy of Greysful Glamour detected a degree of mucus which may have affected the horse’s racing performance.” This is a clear forgive and if she gets a soft lead at the Valley in the five million dollar race who knows…

Forget

Neufbosc – Neville Parnham

10th of 10 in the 1600 metre Blamey Stakes

He just simply hates Melbourne. There may have been an issue with him on the weekend but it is hard to back the ex French stayer in Victoria again after not beating a runner home in his recent two starts. Wait until he heads back to Perth.

Stars of Carrum – Peter Moody

3rd of 8 in the 2600 metre Roy Higgins Quality

He is a horse that just doesn’t like winnin, 1 win in 27 starts says it all. He has been pretty consistent of late finishing 3rd, 2nd, 4th and 4th but the Moody trained galloper had every conceivable chance on Saturday.

Follow

Humma Humma – John McArdle

3rd of 12 in the 1000 metre ATA/Bob Hoysted Handicap

Looked the winner at the 200 metre mark as she loomed up on the outside of Fabergino before peaking on her run. It was a great return from the five-year-old mare who is in her last preparation before heading to the breeding barn. Her Grand Final looks to be the Sangster in Adelaide on the 1st of May and looks to be a major chance in the Group 1.

She’s All Class – Chris Waller

2nd of 12 in the 1200 metre Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes

In a year where the Golden Slipper looks to be dominated by the colts She’s All Class could be the best filly around to take them on. She didn’t win on the weekend but after drawing the outside barrier McDonald was forced to go back which made it incredibly hard but she still flashed home late to run 2nd behind Four Moved Ahead. She also drew a sticky gate in the Magic Millions up on the Gold Coast and finished off nicely, if she draws a gate in the Golden Slipper she is very capable of finishing in the placings.
