Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka have signed up for the AO 1 Point Slam, with the $1 million one-point event returning to Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday 13 January 2027.
Tennis Australia confirmed the four stars on Thursday 8 October, billing the third edition as the biggest 1 Point Slam yet. World No.1 Sinner and defending Australian Open champion Alcaraz headline the field, where professionals, community players and wildcards meet in one-point, winner-takes-all matches for a $1 million prize.
The event will be held during Australian Open Opening Week, ahead of AO 2027.
How amateurs can qualify for the 1 Point Slam
Up to 1000 clubs will run local AO 1 Point Slam competitions over the next two months, according to Tennis Australia. Players who win their way through will go to State Championships around the country, and two winners from each state and territory will play at Rod Laver Arena during Opening Week.
Players can find and enter a local event through Tennis Australia’s 1 Point Slam page.
What Tennis Australia said
“The AO 1 Point Slam is unlike anything else in world sport,” Tennis Australia Chief Tennis Officer Tom Larner said.
“It creates an opportunity for grassroots tennis players to share the spotlight with some of the biggest names in the game and delivers a level of excitement that only the Australian Open can provide.”
Jordan Smith’s $1 million fairytale
Sydney amateur Jordan Smith won the 2026 edition, getting past Sinner on his way to the final before taking the $1 million when Joanna Garland’s backhand went wide, the Australian Open reported. Smith, from Castle Hill Tennis Club, also earned $50,000 for his local club.
Omar Jasika won the first 1 Point Slam in 2025, when the prize pool was $60,000, ABC News reported.
1 Point Slam tickets
Tickets start from $59 and go on sale through Ticketmaster from 12pm AEDT on Thursday 8 October, Tennis Australia said. The champion will lift a trophy made from Australian silver by ABC Bullion.
