Taylor Fritz of Rancho Santa Fe, California has won the 2026 Mubadala DC Open in Washington, District of Columbia. In a rare Monday finish, Fritz, the number three seed, defeated Rafael Jodar of Spain, 7-6, 6-4.
The reason why there was a Monday finish in Washington was because of rain on Sunday. Fritz, the third seed, dominated Jodar in the first set tiebreak as he won 7-2. Fritz had six aces compared to five for Jodar, and broke Jodar twice in the match. Fritz was the favourite in every match he played and did not have to face a seeded player during the entire tournament.
Fritz, the 2024 United States Open finalist, won his 11th ATP final. He previously won the 2019, 2022, 2024 and 2025 Eastbourne International, 2022 Indian Wells, the 2022 Japan Open, the 2023 and 2024 Delray Beach Open, the 2023 Atlanta Open, and the 2025 Stuttgart Open.
There has been significant hype about Jodar this season. He came to prominence during the clay court season when he reached the quarterfinals of Madrid and Rome, and won the 2026 Grand Prix Hassan II final in Morocco. In the Morocco final, Jodar defeated Marco Trungelliti of Argentina, 6-3, 6-2.
Next up for Fritz is the National Bank Open in Montreal. He got a first round bye in Canada, and does not have to take to the court until Wednesday afternoon, mainly because of his Washington success. Fritz, who is the seventh seed, will be facing Thiago Agustin Tirante of Argentina. This will be their first ever meeting head-to-head.
