Sydney Swans Vs Adelaide Crows Preview: Supercoach Insights, Stats & Everything You Need To Know
March 29, 2019
SYDNEY SWANS VS ADELAIDE CROWS – FRIDAY 29 MARCH, 7:50PM, SCG
Friday night football will be played in Sydney with the Swans out to do battle against the Crows.
Both teams suffered disappointing defeats in games they were expected to win last week. Adelaide have been touted as a serious finals contender but were outclassed by a well structured Hawthorn outfit. The Hawks appear to be a bogey side for the Crows, with Alistair Clarkson able to breakdown Adelaide’s forward line and stop the flow.
Adelaide’s forwards had absolutely no impact on the game and rarely showed any presence when the ball was being directed into their attacking 50m. Rory Sloane tried hard and finished the day with 36 disposals being judged best on ground for Adelaide. Matt and Brad Crouch also featured in Adelaide’s best along with Alex Keath.
The Crows suffered two serious injuries with Tom Doedee sustaining a season ending ACL injury along with Richard Douglas who is expected to miss eight weeks of football following an injury to his ankle resulting in surgery.
Sydney were slow to begin in their Round 1 match against the Western Bulldogs with the Swans trialling by as much as 40 points just after the main break. They clawed their way back to a four-point deficit before the Dogs kicked away to win by 17 points.
Sam Reid and Isaac Heeney were the only multiple goal scorers for the Swans with Jake Lloyd, Zak Jones, Jarrad McVeigh named in the best players.

This week:
Both teams will be looking to record their first win of the season after disappointing results a week prior. Pressure will be on the forwards with Sydney’s Lance Franklin noticeably lacking fitness and touch. Adelaide’s forward line of Josh Jenkins, Taylor Walker, Tom Lynch and Eddie Betts will need to provide targets to their midfielders and kick a winning score.
Too often Sydney rely on Luke Parker and Josh Kennedy to save the day for Sydney, they will be looking for future stars Isaac Heeney and Callum Mills to consistently share the workload.
Tipping Adelaide to win, think their midfield is too physical and classy for Sydney on the small SCG ground.

Sydney – Avoid – Lance Franklin – The Swans star has had a limited pre-season and it showed last weekend. Wait until he strings a few games together and improves his fitness before considering a trade into the team. Only 3.4% of Supercoach teams have selected him.
Adelaide – Trade – Tom Doedee who has suffered a season ending ACL injury. Richard Douglas is expected to miss two months after having ankle surgery.
