Suns trade Kevin Durant to Rockets

The Houston Rockets have acquired 37-year-old Kevin Durant of Washington, District of Columbia from the Phoenix Suns. In a blockbuster trade on Sunday prior to game seven of the NBA Finals, the Rockets gave up a lot for the experienced veteran. According to Morten Stig Jensen of Yahoo! Sports, going Phoenix’s way are shooting guard Jalen Green of Merced, California, Canadian small forward Dillon Brooks of Mississauga, Ontario, the 10th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and five second round picks.
This is the fifth NBA franchise for Durant. He has previously played for the Seattle Supersonics/Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Phoenix Suns. In 17 NBA seasons, Durant has been an All-Star 15 times. He was also the NBA Rookie of the Year with the SuperSonics in 2007-08, led the NBA in scoring four times (2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12, and 2013-14), led the NBA with .905 free throw shooting in 2012-13, was the NBA MVP with the Thunder in 2013-14, and won two NBA Finals MVP Awards with the Warriors in 2017 and 2018 as the Warriors won the league championships in back-to-back years over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
In 2024-25, Durant averaged 26.6 points per game, six rebounds per game, 4.2 assists per games, and 1.2 blocks per game. He had a field goal percentage of .527, three point percentage of .430, and a free throw percentage of .839.
Green is joining his second team in Phoenix after four seasons in Houston. In 2024-25, he averaged 21 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, and 3.4 assists per game. Green had a field goal percentage of .423, three point percentage of .354, and free throw percentage of .813.
Brooks is joining his third team in Phoenix after six seasons in Memphis and two with Houston. In 2024-25, he averaged 14 points per game, 3.7 rebounds per game, and 1.7 assists per game. Brooks also had a field goal percentage of .429, three point percentage of .397, and a free throw percentage of .818.
