The Phoenix Suns came through with a dramatic 113-110 buzzer beater double overtime win over the Orlando Magic on Saturday from Phoenix’s Mortgage Matchup Center, but the win came at a cost. That is because in the Suns’s win, Phoenix lost Canadian small forward Dillon Brooks for four to six weeks with a broken hand according to David Brandt of the Associated Press on Sunday.
It is not known at this time exactly how Brooks got hurt. What we do know is that he left the game with four minutes and 46 seconds left in the first quarter and did not return.
Throughout Brooks’s career, he has been known for his defense. However, in 2025-26, Brooks is scoring on a regular basis too. He is averaging a career-high 20.9 points per game, and has a career-best .856 free throw percentage. Brooks also is averaging 3.7 rebounds per game, 1.8 assists per game, one steal per game, and has a field goal percentage of .440, and three-point percentage of .343.
Brooks is one of four Suns players dealing with an injury at the moment. The other three are shooting guard Devin Booker of Grand Rapids, Michigan (strained right hip), shooting guard Grayson Allen of Jacksonville, Florida (ankle and knee injuries), and point guard Jordan Goodwin of Centreville, Illinois (calf). Booker leads the Suns with 24.7 points per game, while Brooks is second in points per game.
The Suns are seventh in the Western Conference at 33 wins and 25 losses. They are two games back of the Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves for fifth in the West and an attempt to avoid the silly play-in tournament.
