The Phoenix Suns defeated the Orlando Magic 113-110 on Saturday. The biggest shot of the game came at the very end, as shooting guard Jalen Green of Merced, California made a 24 foot three point shot to break a 110-110 deadlock with no time left on the clock. Small forward Royce O’Neale of Killeen, Texas picked up the lone assist.
This was the 10th buzzer beater this season, but only the third buzzer beater in the 2026 portion of the NBA season. Immanuel Quickley of the Toronto Raptors accomplished the feat in a 97-96 win over the Charlotte Hornets and Paolo Banchero of the Magic recorded his first career buzzer beater in a 104-103 Orlando win over the Brooklyn Nets. What is ironic about Quickley and Banchero’s buzzer beaters are they happened on the same night–January 7.
Like Quickley and Banchero, this was Green’s first buzzer beater of his career. What was so rare of Green’s buzzer beater is that it came in double overtime. According to nba.com, this was only the sixth buzzer beater in double overtime in the last 14 years.
In the Suns win over the Magic, Green only made two of 11 three point attempts. He was one of five Suns players to reach double digits in points. Shooting guard Grayson Allen of Jacksonville, Florida was the Suns’s leading scorer as he scored 27 points off the bench.
Orlando outscored Phoenix 74-62 in the first three quarters, but Orlando outscored Phoenix 34-22 in the third quarter. With the win, the Suns improved to a record of 33 wins and 24 losses.
