We now know who will be in the semifinals of the 2022 United States Open. The quarterfinals at Flushing Meadows, New York took place over the last two days to determine the four players left in the women’s draw and the men’s draw.

In the women’s quarterfinal action on Tuesday, Caroline Garcia of France beat Coco Gauff of the United States 6-3, 6-4 and Ons Jabeur of Tunisia beat Ajla Tomljanovic of Brisbane 6-4, 7-6. In the women’s quarterfinal action on Wednesday, the number one seed Iga Swiatek of Poland beat American Jessica Pegula of the United States 6-3, 7-6, and Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus beat Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic 6-1, 7-6.

In the men’s quarterfinal action on Tuesday, Casper Ruud of Norway beat Matteo Berrettini of Italy 6-1, 6-4, 7-6, and Karen Khachanov of Russia beat Nick Kyrgios of Australia 7-5, 4-6, 7-5, 6-7, 6-4. On Wednesday, Carlos Alcaraz of Spain beat Jannik Sinner of Italy 6-3, 6-7, 6-7, 7-5, 6-3, and Frances Tiafoe of the United States beat Carlos Alcaraz of Spain 7-6, 7-6, 6-4.



The semifinals on the women’s side on Thursday have Garcia versus Jabeur and Swiatek versus Sabalenka. Jabeur, the fifth seed and 2022 Wimbledon finalist, is 2-0 all-time versus Garcia, the 17th seed. Jabeur beat Garcia 7-6, 6-2 in the first round of the 2019 United States Open and 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the second round of the 2020 Australian Open. Swiatek, the two-time French Open champion, is 3-1 all-time versus Sabalenka, the sixth seed. Swiatek has beaten Sabalenka three times this year in Doha, Stuttgart and Rome.

The first semifinal on the men’s side on Friday has Ruud, the fifth seed, versus Khachanov, the 27th seed. Ruud won their lone prior meeting, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 in the first round of Rome in 2020. Alacaraz, the third seed, will face Tiafoe, the 22nd seed. Tiafoe won their lone prior meeting, 6-4, 7-6 in the first round of Barcelona in 2021.
