Saquon Barkley shines as Eagles beat Commanders 26-18
November 16, 2024

The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Washington Commanders 26-18 on Thursday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. What we saw in this prime time matchup is just how good Eagles running back Saquon Barkley of the Bronx, New York still is.
At the age of 27, Barkley has proved to the football world this season he is still an elite back, and that the New York Giants made a mistake by only giving him a short term deal rather than a long term deal a year ago. From what we saw on Thursday, Barkley is worth every penny of his three year deal worth $37.75 million he signed on March 11.
Barkley had fourth quarter touchdown runs of 23 and 39 yards in the eight-point Eagles win. He also had 26 carries for 146 rushing yards, along with two catches for 52 receiving yards. Prior to Barkley’s fourth quarter touchdowns, the Eagles had a narrow two point lead over the Commanders at 12-10. Then in a span of 27 seconds, Barkley found the end zone twice thanks to two touchdown runs.
This is the second time this season Barkley came mighty close to 200 total yards. On Thursday he had 198 total yards. On November 3 in a 28-23 Eagles win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Barkley had 199 total yards (150 yards rushing and 40 yards receiving).
Barkley now leads the NFL in rushing yards this season with 1137. He is also leading the NFL with 113.7 yards per game. With the win, the Eagles remain in first place in the NFC East. They have a record of eight wins and two losses.
