Sandown Review: The Future Is Bright For Globe
May 8, 2023

THE Mick Price and Michael Kent Junior team recently lost their flagbearer Jacquinot to stud but they will enter next spring with a possible replacement at the highest level with another four-year-old in the unbeaten Globe.
Globe made it four starts for four wins when he strolled in by four lengths at Sandown Hillside in a Benchmark 100 over 1600m by four lengths on Saturday.
In his four wins the gelding’s cumulative winning margin has been 13.7 lengths at an average of almost 3.5 lengths.
On Saturday Globe produced almost his trademark win for this early stage of his career, rolling to the front and then kicking clear but racing greenly over the closing stages.
Price said he plans on giving him his opportunity in better class races over the spring which is when he will next race again.
“I won’t be under placing him. He’ll be running in Group races when we get him right,” Price said on RSN.
“We will feel our way in terms of class and ambitions with him.”
Price said he thought Globe would improve with racing as he was still very green.
He thought he would be suited by 2000 metres but he wondered whether his bold style of racing would suit for longer distances.
Price and Kent Junior also demonstrated their training prowess by producing the talented Gunstock to win first-up over 1600 metres.
Price said the lightly raced four-year-old gelding had bad knees and they had to do a lot of slow work with him at Warrnambool.
Gunstock has won four of his eight starts and the trainer’s plan is to let him recover from that win and then try and win another race over winter.
