Sam Burgess Caught In Sexting Controversy Ahead Of The Finals
September 15, 2018
SOUTH Sydney’s marquee forward Sam Burgess has been identified as the player in the centre of the sexting scandal, with the The Saturday Telegraph uncovering evidence his social media accounts were used in the lewd video chats.
The 29-year-old married father of one was approached by The Telegraph at his home but declined to comment.
He was asked if the images were of him, to which he replied:” “There’s obviously an ongoing investigation going into it … no comment.”
A 23-year-old female fan alleges one man showed his genitalia while another bared his backside during a video chat with several South Sydney players after their Round 12 clash with the Warriors in May.
News Limited has published screenshots allegedly taken during the video call, which occurred on Burgess’ facebook account.
It is unknown whether Burgess is the man in either image, however, it is understood the England international took part in the video chat.
According to News Limited, the woman sent Burgess an initial message on Instagram before the dual international allegedly suggested the video chat.
Rabbitohs CEO Blake Solly reportedly contacted the complainant on Friday to assure her a thorough and confidential investigation will be conducted.
The NRL Integrity Unit is monitoring the matter.
The timing couldn’t be any worse for South Sydney as they are set to face off with the St. George Illawarra Dragons in tonight’s must-win semi-final.
