Russell Henley eagles way to the 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational title
March 11, 2025

This past weekend on the PGA Tour in Orlando, Florida, American golfer Russell Henley saved his best for the 70th of 72 holes. In other words, he saved the best for last, or downright as close to last as possible.
Henley came to the 16th hole on Sunday at -9, and trailing Colin Morikawa of Los Angeles, California by one stroke. However, with one memorable shot, he went from one back of the lead to one stroke up. That is simply what happens when a golfer posts a score of three on a par five. Henley’s eagle on the 491-yard 16th hole at Bay Hill will go down as one of the most memorable shots in the history of the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Henley’s eagle attempt was from the rough and went 54 feet and seven inches into the hole.
Morikawa finished in second place at -10. The Los Angeles native knows about winning with a remarkable eagle on the 16th hole. That is how Morikawa won the 2020 PGA Championship. Meanwhile, Canadian Corey Conners was all alone in third place at -9, and American Michael Kim was all alone in fourth place at -8.
Henley began the Arnold Palmer Invitational with a score of par 72. That was followed by a second round score of -4, third round score of five under, and a fourth round score of two under. Remarkably, Henley also had an eagle in the second round on the 16th hole on Friday.
This was Henley’s fifth PGA title. He previously won the 2013 Sony Open in Hawaii, the 2014 Honda Classic in Florida, the 2017 Shell Houston Open, and the 2022 World Wide Technology Championship in Mexico.
