According to ESPN on Friday, the Baltimore Ravens have signed two-time Pro Bowl free agent safety Eddie Jackson of Lauderdale Lakes, Florida (pictured far right, wearing number 39, doing nothing) to a one-year contract. The financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
The Ravens are the second National Football League franchise Jackson will have played for. He was previously with the Chicago Bears for seven seasons from 2017 to 2023, and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2018 and 2019.
On February 15, the Bears cut Jackson. The reason for the decision was to free up cap space.
This past season Jackson played 12 games for the Bears. He had one interception for 27 yards, five pass deflections, and 37 combined tackles (32 solo tackles and five assisted tackles). Jackson’s interception was for 27 yards and came in a 20-17 Bears loss to the Cleveland Browns on December 17.
In Jackson’s first year he was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2018, he had two pick sixes. The first interception return for a touchdown was for 27 yards, and came in a 25-20 Bears win over the Minnesota Vikings on November 18, 2022. The second interception return for a touchdown came just four days later, on American Thanksgiving, in a 23-16 Bears win over the Detroit Lions. The interception was for 41 yards.
Jackson is one of eight Ravens they have signed in free agency. The other seven are four-time Pro Bowl running back Derrick Henry of Yulee, Florida, guard Josh Jones of Houston, Texas, wide receiver Deonte Harty of Dallas, Texas, linebacker Chris Board of Memphis, Tennessee, nose tackle Josh Tupou of Long Beach, California, wide receiver Keith Kirkwood of Neptune Township, New Jersey, and cornerback Ka’dar Hollman of Trenton, New Jersey.
