January 19, 2024

According to Rory Maher of hoopsrumors.com on Wednesday, there was a blockbuster deal between the Indiana Pacers and Toronto Raptors. The Pacers traded shooting guard Bruce Brown of Boston, Massachusetts, small forward Jordan Nwora of Buffalo, New York, point guard Kira Lewis of Meridianville, Alabama and three draft picks to the Raptors for two-time NBA All-Star Pascal Siakam of Douala, Cameroon. The draft picks are two first round picks in 2024 and a first round pick in 2026.
In 39 games this season, Siakam averaged 22.2 points per game, 6.3 rebounds per game, and 4.9 assists per game. He had a field goal percentage of .522, free throw percentage of .758, and a three-point percentage of .317.
Siakam has the second most points scored by a Raptors player in a game with 52. He accomplished the feat in a 113-106 Raptors win over the New York Knicks on December 21, 2022. The Raptors record for most points in a game belongs to Fred VanVleet of Rockford, Illinois, who had 54 points in a 123-108 Toronto win over the Orlando Magic on February 2, 2021.
With the Raptors, Siakam won the 2019 NBA Finals. He had been with Toronto since 2016. When the Raptors won the 2019 NBA Finals, Siakam received the NBA Award for most improved player that season. He jumped to 16.9 points per game from 7.3 points per game the season before. During the seasons where Siakam was an NBA All-Star, he averaged 22.9 points per game in 2019-20, and a career-high 24.2 points per game in 2022-23.
Brown is joining his fifth National Basketball Association team. He has previously played for the Detroit Pistons (2018 to 2020), the Brooklyn Nets (2020 to 2022), the Denver Nuggets (2022 to 2023), and Indiana Pacers (2023 to 2024). With the Pacers this season, Brown averaged 12.1 points per game, 4.7 rebounds per game, three assists per game, 1.1 steals per game, with a field goal percentage of .475, a three-point percentage of .327, and a free throw percentage of .817. While with the Nuggets in 2023, Brown won the NBA Finals.
