Randwick Review: Anamoe Still “Top Dog”

James Cummings saw enough with Anamoe’s win in the Apollo Stakes to know he was still “the top dog” in racing.

Cummings said the race was pleasing to his eye as Anamoe was always in control.

“The race looked perfect on paper as he’s got the ability to surge and put himself in a position. They didn’t go out that quick with four of five of them looking for a position then they went along solid and it was a quick dash home which suits him,” Cummings said on RSN.

“He reasserted himself as the top dog. He’s a magnificent animal whose done it all.”
Cummings said Anamoe could be in for his best campaign yet.

“He can keep racing and getting better and better and he’ll keep fending off the newcomers,” he said.

“The Chipping Norton in two weeks which will be two runs in February is his next run then one in March and one in April,” Cummings said.

“We can now plan with confidence now he’s back in the same shape.”

The Cummings and Godolphin team also had the other most impressive winner at Randwick in their star three-year-old filly In Secret who won the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes.

Cummings said Nash Rawiller’s ride to get her to win was “a very good, cool ride” after being held in on the fence due to her missing the kick.

Cummings said they needed to iron out her missing the start. In Secret will go into the Surround Stakes for her next start.
